Visit Lake Norman Visitors Center
New Reception Desk + Cabinetry Upgrades Facility Look
When the Visit Lake Norman Visitors Center contacted Holt, they wanted help in upgrading their facility’s look. Tourists who visited their facility were seeing a hodgepodge of disheveled furniture and fixtures cobbled together.
Instead, the Visit Lake Norman Visitors Center wanted a more professional look that better showed their pride as ambassadors for tourist attractions surrounding Lake Norman, the largest man-made lake in North Carolina.
To upgrade the facility look, Holt designed and built:
- A 12-foot curved reception counter that seats two “ambassadors” who greet and advise visitors. The counter features 3D lettering, built-in filing drawers, and a halo of signal flags above.
- A cleaner-looking awards cabinet to house their many trophies and plaques, with glass shelves and hidden display lighting.
- A table housing a printed regional area map of Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville, North Carolina, the main cities in the Lake Norman area.
- A large hospitality table that lets visitors gather to discuss their travel plans and to explore the many travel brochures supplied throughout the visitors center.
The Visitors Center is very happy with the more modern look, which presented a better image to visitors and bolstered the morale of their volunteer ambassadors.
Holt actually provided a design for a complete facility visual upgrade (as shown in the video animation below). These photos depict the work completed in Phase 1; further elements are reserved for Phase 2. This is a common process to spread branded environment upgrades across multiple budget years.
