Flames Draw Crowd To Smoke-Free Exhibit
Exhibiting outdoors allowed Industrial Chimney Company (ICC) to demonstrate its wood-burning fireplaces and chimney systems, but the company discovered major advantages when it moved indoors.
Bigger audiences. In recent years, rainy weather and a move inside by other alternative-heating exhibitors put a damper on traffic for open-air exhibits.
“We were not pulling our share of the people,” says Steve Rea, sales manager for ICC. “To capitalize on attendance, we wanted to take our booth indoors.”
Purchasing a 40’-by-40’ custom modular exhibit gave ICC a chance to reach every attendee in the convention center. Snow on the show’s first day confirmed that ICC made the right choice.
Better results. To position ICC as a major player, the island exhibit is designed to command attention with two 16-foot towers, imposing perimeter walls and fiery graphics. Within the walls, the exhibit features an open layout, similar to an Apple store.
“Our booth helped us get the lion’s share of interest and activity,” Rea says. “We like that clean look and more efficient use of space.”
Less shipping. In the past, ICC arranged three 40-foot shipping containers in a U shape, then constructed a decorative mantle for each fireplace. Now, instead of needing three flatbed trucks to transport the containers, ICC ships the new exhibit and other equipment in one truck.
Less labor. Up to eight employees totaled more than 200 man-hours setting up the outdoor booth. For the new exhibit, four people – with no tools – installed the exhibit, including frames for the perimeter walls and towers, fabric graphics, lights and wiring, in about 10 hours.
“It’s a solid structure – well-designed and easy to put up,” Rea says.
