Larger Space Highlights High Point’s History, Attractions, and Community

When the High Point Convention and Visitors Bureau came to the end of their lease of their old and outdated space, they decided to jump on the opportunity to relocate to the existing Chamber of Commerce building. The relocation would give them a larger area to upfit, as well as create greater synergy with the Chamber. The space did not reflect the welcoming and informative vision that the High Point Convention and Visitors Bureau had. They wanted to highlight High Point’s history, attractions, and community. Understanding the desires of High Point Convention and Visitors Bureau, Holt Experiential conceptualized a space that met all of the client’s goals.

Working within what used to be the Chamber’s boardroom, very traditional and dark, Holt designed an open and bright space to house informational exhibits about High Point and the greater region. These exhibits speak to the history of High Point, as well as local and regional attractions; the furniture shopping experience, High Point University, prominent African Americans, local musicians, and veterans only touch upon the exhibits provided within the Regional Visitors Center. Additional exhibits, interactive kiosks, graphics, and pamphlets focus on local shopping, restaurants, and businesses based in High Point. The space’s warm and welcoming environment is accentuated with comfortable furniture where visitors can sit while they read and gather information.

“From the first pencil sketch on a worn notepad to the Grand Opening of the Regional Visitors Center is a memory I will always remember,” said Nancy Bowman, Director of Sales and Marketing, High Point Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Moving to another location and wanting to create a ‘wow’ Regional Visitor Center can be quite overwhelming. However, working with The Holt Team, I quickly knew we were in good hands. Our ideas were heard, our vision was quickly captured on paper and turned into reality in just 6 short months. The collaboration with the team and the professionalism over the course of the project was beyond my expectations. Since our opening back in 2014, we’ve received nothing but positive reviews! Chris Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, said it should be a model for all Visitor Centers across the state of North Carolina.”
