The Visitor Information Center, previously located in the Raleigh City Museum on Fayetteville Street, was relocated to a higher-traffic area in downtown Raleigh. According to the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, which manages the center, the Visitor Information Center accommodates over 10,000 walk-ins annually as well as 4,481 calls and 8,021 visitor inquiries. This new location would need the necessary resources that provided visitors information about Raleigh, as well as its attractions and amenities.

Design Functionality

The Visitor Information Center features a custom reception counter, built by Holt Experiential, with a perforated aluminum awning. Behind and next to the counter hang two high definition monitors showcasing attractions, natural beauty, history, events, tour information, restaurant guides, shopping, and transportation options. Custom literature racks provide visitors rack cards and pamphlets that further expound upon what is shown on the monitors. Adding warmth through functionality, Holt created a custom bench with upholstered cushions. The exterior windows were covered with branded and informational graphics to convey the location outside of the building. The graphics were perforated to allow natural sunlight to illuminate the center.
